The X-Ray & Imaging team is proud to welcome consultant radiologist Dr Willem Van der Merwe. After qualifying as a consultant in 1990, Willem gained further vast experience in all areas of x-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRI. He is a former Consultant-in-Charge of a Neuro Radiology Unit of a major South African teaching hospital and was also one of the Designated Radiologists for Breast Screen NSW. He has a special interest in cross sectional imaging.

In 1992 he emigrated to Australia to take up the position of Director of Radiology at Toowoomba Base Hospital.He later relocated to NSW for a period of over 15 years, where he worked in both a rural setting and Sydney as associate and radiologist partner, before recently returning to Queensland to work for X-Ray & Imaging.Willem will be working full time out of the Noosa practice where he has already proven to be extremely popular with patients and staff due to his friendly nature and excellent patient care.

X-Ray & Imaging Kawana are now providing all non contrast CT examinations on Saturday mornings 9-12pm. All patients will be bulk billed and bookings are essential to ensure suitable preparation. Films will be available for the patient within minutes of the examination with radiologist’s reports emailed to referring clinicians on the following Monday morning. This adds to the already existing Saturday x-ray service provided from the same clinic.

X-Ray & Imaging are now open on Saturday mornings at Kawana. As of Saturday 8th August X-Ray & Imaging Kawana will be providing BULK BILLED X-Rays to all Medicare patients. Open from 9am until 12pm. This will be the only service of its kind available on the Sunshine Coast on Saturdays. Please note that this is for X-Rays only and does not include ultrasound. As requested by many of the local GPs, X-Ray & Imaging has now been opened in Kawana. Initially providing Bulk Billed X-rays and Ultrasounds, Kawana opened its doors to patients on Monday 6^th July. Nicki, Sonja and the rest of the team have already proved popular with GPs and patients alike, performing 43 examinations on just their fourth day.
