Meet our radiologists below.


Dr Richard Langford


Dr Richard Langford qualified as a consultant radiologist in South Africa in 1988. Prior to establishing X-Ray & Imaging in 2004, Dr Langford was the Director of Radiology at Nambour General Hospital.

With over 30 years of international consulting experience ,Dr Langford has a reputation for being an approachable radiologist who provides the highest standards in diagnostic radiology reporting.

Areas of Interest
A former Breast Screen Radiologist, Dr Langford’s special interest lies in mammography and breast imaging.

Dr Tevita Taka


Dr Tevita Taka grew up between New Zealand & Fiji before completing his medical training at Otago Medical School. Tevita obtained his RANZCR fellowship at Dunedin Hospital in 2010, before relocating to Australia and joining X-Ray & Imaging in 2011.

Areas of Interest
Dr Taka’s special interests include MSK MRI imaging and MSK interventional procedures. 

Dr Rastie van der Westhuizen


Qualifying as a consultant radiologist in South Africa in 1990, Rastie relocated to Australia with his wife and two sons in 2004 and joined X-Ray & Imaging in 2012.

Areas of Interest
Dr van der Westhuizen’s main areas of interest are in interventional radiology, including a comprehensive range of CT &ultrasound guided injections.

Dr Anton Le Roux


Originally qualified as a veterinary surgeon, Dr Anton LeRoux became a radiologist in South Africa in 1997 and qualified as a consultant radiologist in Australia in 2003.

Dr Le Roux provides teleradiology reporting of x-ray, BMD, mammography, ultrasound, CT and MRI imaging from rural and metropolitan providers interstate.  

Areas of Interest
Dr Le Roux has a special interest in MSK, intervention, abdominal and women’s imaging.

Dr Gus Ferguson


Dr Russell (Gus) Ferguson joined X-Ray & Imaging in 2018. Gus qualified in medicine at the University of Otago in 1963, with post-grad studies commencing soon after with a doctorate at Otago University in 1968 and FRANZCR in 1971.

Winning the McKenzie Research Scholarship took him to the University College Hospital in London to study under the well-known kidney researcher, Dr John Hodson. While in London he achieved the Royal College Fellowship FRCR in1973.

Areas of Interest
Dr Ferguson’s main interests are in pain management procedures. He was instrumental in developing the technology use of CT guided radiofrequency in the spine – a pain management procedural technique he has now been performing for over 25 years.

Dr Sally Johnstone


Dr Sally Johnstone completed her medical degree at the University of Queensland and trained in specialised radiology at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

Sally later completed her fellowship training in vascular and interventional radiology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, before joining X-Ray & Imaging in 2018.

Areas of Interest
Dr Johnstone’s main interest is in image guided pain interventions.

Dr Sarah Constantine


Dr Sarah Constantine completed her radiology training in South Australia in 2004 and went on to complete a fellowship in perinatal imaging at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in 2005.

Dr Constantine is an RANZCR college examiner in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Joining X-Ray & Imaging in 2019, Sarah also reports craniomaxillofacial imaging for the SA Dental Service, Oral Health Services Tasmania and the Royal Dental Hospital in Melbourne.

Areas of Interest
Dr Constantine specialises in obstetric ultrasound, pelvic ultrasound,MRI and neonatal imaging.

Dr Shane Diers


Dr Shane Diers graduated from the University of theWitwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, going on to specialise in diagnostic and interventional radiology achieving both FCRad Diag(SA) and FRANZCR.

Prior to joining X-Ray & Imaging in 2019, Dr Diers spent 10 years working in private practice in Johannesburg, and four years as a consultant radiologist in the public sector in Whangarei, New Zealand.

Areas of Interest
Dr Diers has special interests in emergency and trauma imaging as well as diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal imaging.

Dr Allan McKenzie


Dr Allan  graduated from the University of Melbourne and completed his radiology training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Prior to joining X-Ray & Imaging in 2020, Dr McKenzie led medical imaging departments at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute, Frankston Private Medical Imaging and QDI Buderim Private Hospital.

Allan is a FRACR college examiner and is a member of the Medical Services Advisory Committee and the Radiologic Society North America and American Roentgen Ray Society.

Areas of Interest
Dr McKenzie’s special interest is in MRI.

Dr John Velkovic


After graduating from the University of Queensland in 2007, Dr John Velkovic completed his radiology training at the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital and obtained his FRANZCR qualification in 2015.

John then went on to work at Nambour General Hospital and Sunshine Coast University Hospital for several years before moving to the private radiology sector and joining
X-Ray & Imaging in 2020.

Areas of Interest
Dr Velkovic has a special interest in neuro/spine, chest and abdominal radiology and image guided intervention.

Dr Ben Edwards


Dr Ben Edwards completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland and trained in radiology at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

During his training, he developed a keen interest in musculoskeletal imaging and intervention which he pursued with a fellowship at Brisbane Private Imaging. A Sunshine Coast local, he returned to the coast in2021 and joined X-Ray & Imaging.

Area of Interest
Dr Edwards’ special interests are in musculoskeletal imaging & intervention.

Dr Christopher Lawson

MBBS,BSc, GradDip (Ultrasound), M (Ultrasound), RANZCR

Dr Chris Lawson joined the X-Ray & Imaging Pain Clinic in 2020.

Chris graduated from Bond University in Queensland in 2012 and completed radiology training at Royal Melbourne Hospital. In 2020, Chris completed a musculoskeletal radiology fellowship at Melbourne Radiology Clinic - a specialist pain management and musculoskeletal imaging centre.

Chris has advanced skills in musculoskeletal imaging, MRI and in particular musculoskeletal ultrasound with 20 years experience and has completed a Masters in ultrasound.  

His emphasis has been on interventional radiology procedures with a specific focus on image guided spinal and pain management. This includes RFN , inter-laminar and transforaminal epidurals. He utilises regional nerve blocks for  specialised procedures such as hydrodilatation and plantar fascia injections.  He also performs specialised tendon and nerve procedures as well as intra-articular injections including PRP.  

He works closely with his referrers to ensure the best possible care and outcomes for his patients. 

Areas of Interest
 Dr Lawson's specialises in musculoskeletal intervention and pain management. His interest in musculoskeletal imaging has been a natural progression from competing in athletics at a national and international level.
